The
dietary lipids are carried in blood plasma from one tissue to another
as plasma lipoprotein, macromolecular complexes of specific carrier proteins
called apolipoprotein, with various combinations of phospholipids, cholesterol
and triacylglycerol. Very-Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL)
is the first to be formed and the loss of triacylglycerols
converts some VLDL to low-density lipoprotein (LDL).
As the process continues, LDL will be transformed to high-density lipoprotein
(HDL). |
